Homeschool Guide

Welcome:

Welcome to the Florida Public Library Homeschool Guide.  Whether you’re just starting to consider homeschooling or you’re a seasoned homeschooler with years of experience, use this guide to connect to resources to help you along your homeschooling journey.

Getting Started:

Law:

Homeschooling is regulated by the state.  The New York State regulations can be found here. http://www.nysed.gov/curriculum-instruction/part-100-regulations-commissioner-education

The Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) provides many articles and videos on how to comply with NY regulations.  https://hslda.org/legal/new-york

You can email Beth, our FPL homeschool liaison, at bpskowski@rcls.org.

Also available at library are sample forms to meet state requirements.

Connect with the Community:

There are two major homeschool groups in our area: https://www.facebook.com/Hudson-Valley-Homeschoolers-772151799565630/

Beginning:

Although every homeschool is different there are multiple methods and styles that are prevalent. This article discusses different styles. https://www.homeschool.com/homeschooling-methods/

There are many books available to help introduce, guide and encourage you through your homeschooling journey.

(See below for books available in RCLS library system)
